The Airbnb turnover checklist Houston hosts actually use

A turnover is not a deep clean and it is not a quick tidy. It is a repeatable checklist that makes the unit look untouched — every single time, under time pressure, with a new guest arriving the same afternoon.

The first ninety seconds decide your review

Guests form their opinion at the entryway, the kitchen counter and the bathroom mirror. If those three are spotless, small issues elsewhere rarely make it into a review. If any of them is dirty, everything else gets scrutinized.

Kitchen

  • · Counters cleared and wiped, no crumbs in the corners
  • · Sink dry and shining — water spots read as dirty
  • · Microwave, fridge and oven exteriors wiped; inside the fridge emptied
  • · Coffee maker rinsed and restocked; dishes put away, not drying in the rack
  • · Trash emptied and a fresh liner in place

Bathroom

  • · Shower walls, drain and glass free of hair — the single most reported complaint
  • · Mirror streak-free, checked with the light on
  • · Toilet base and behind the seat, not just the bowl
  • · Fresh towels folded the same way each time; amenities restocked
  • · Floor mopped last, after the dust falls

Bedrooms and living areas

  • · Linens changed and pulled tight; check pillowcases for makeup marks
  • · Under the bed and behind the nightstand — where guests leave chargers
  • · Remotes, light switches and door handles wiped
  • · Floors vacuumed, then mopped where they are hard

Outside counts too

In Houston the entry is often the first photo a guest takes. Sweep the porch, knock down cobwebs, wipe the outdoor furniture, clear leaves from the walkway and make sure the lockbox area is clean and lit. It costs ten minutes and it lifts the whole first impression.

Close the loop before you leave

  • · Photograph the finished space — proof for damage disputes and content for your listing
  • · Report anything broken, low or missing before check-in, not after
  • · Reset the thermostat and lights to your standard settings

The takeaway

A turnover you can hand to someone else is worth more than a perfect one only you can do. Write the checklist, photograph the result, repeat it.
